How ARC Works:
Using proprietary PC-based software and check scanning hardware, you
can scan conventional paper checks and transform them into an electronic
transaction (ACH). By submitting the check as an electronic transaction,
the funds will be available within 24 to 48 hours. The software also
stores the check data and check images in a shared database for future
research and retrieval, re-submission of NSF checks, and more.
Why would you want to convert a paper check into an electronic transaction?
Let's say you are a utility company that accepts thousands of checks
each month from customers. Currently, you would have to look up each
customer's account, apply the payment to the account, stamp the check
for deposit, create a deposit slip, then drive to the bank and make
the deposit. On top of this, your bank will typically charge you 10
to 25 cents for every check you deposit.
By converting the paper check into an electronic transaction, things
are much more efficient: First, you scan the customer's check. If it's
an existing customer, the customer account information comes up automatically
which links the payment to the customer. Then you just enter the amount
of the check into the software. You repeat this for every check you
receive.
At the end of the day, instead of driving to the bank, you create an
ACH batch file using the software provided, and upload the batch file
for processing. The money will be in your bank account within 24-48
hours, and because it was submitted as an ACH batch file, your per-transaction
fees will be much less than a paper check would be.
Versatile PC Software:
This
PC-based check deposit software application works in conjunction with
leading check scanners on the market. It provides check conversion and
produces an ACH file for electronic processing and transmission. The
software stores the check data and images in a shared database for future
research and retrieval and is available in single or multi-user versions.
Permanent archive created per ACH file transmission. Capability
of storing archives in your local hard drive, network drive, or permanent
media such as CD-ROM.
The
Consumer Database is capable of auto-populating the Name fields for
check records during the scanning process. This innovative system processes
the following Entry Classes:
Point-of-Purchase
Checks (POP)
Accounts Receivable
Checks (ARC)
Recurring Debits (PPD)
Re-presented Checks
(RCK)
